Russian Foreign Ministry describes killing of US-Turkish activist in occupied West Bank as tragic incident

MOSCOW: The Russian Foreign Ministry described the killing of US-Turkish activist, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who fatally shot in the head by Israeli forces during a protest in the occupied West Bank, as a tragic incident. "This is a tragic incident. This shows the need to reduce tension in the Gaza Strip and find a solution," the ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during a press conference. She affirmed that the ongoing bloodshed leads to a surge in violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the Middle East in general. The spokeswoman added, "Therefore, humanitarian aid must be urgently provided to the residents of Gaza who are suffering from the blockade." Zakharova considered that this is the only way to avoid escalating the level of tension and to provide the necessary conditions for starting a comprehensive political process to resolve the problem on the basis of international law. On Friday, Eygi, a 26-year-old US activist of Turkish origin, was directly shot in the head during a peac eful demonstration in the village of Beita.
