Security Council Resolution Highlights Morocco’s Diplomatic Milestone with Autonomy Initiative

Rabat: In a statement to MAP, de Queiroz stressed that October 31, 2025 marks a milestone for Moroccan diplomacy under the leadership of the Sovereign, with the UN recognizing the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco in 2007 as the only viable framework for resolving this conflict.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Moroccan approach adopted in this framework has, over the years, garnered significant support, rallying the backing of key countries such as the United States of America, Spain, and France.

This achievement not only embodies the recognition of Morocco’s historic sovereignty over its Sahara but also stands as a major step towards greater integration in the Maghreb, he added.

This UN resolution, he pointed out, is the culmination of sustained and steadfast diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty the King, who has combined strategic vision and pragmatism while remaining firm in defending the sovereignty of the Kingdom, which has proposed a forward-looking solution through the autonomy initiative.

According to him, this recognition confirms the effectiveness of Morocco’s approach and strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a player capable of transforming complex regional challenges into opportunities for stability, cooperation, and co-development.

The Brazilian expert in international relations finally highlighted the regional significance of His Majesty the King’s call for a “sincere, brotherly” dialogue with Algeria and the revival of the Maghreb Union.

These actions reflect a willingness to promote regional stability and cooperation in a context of tension, de Queiroz argued, who deems it a sign of visionary Royal leadership.
