Rabat: Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita received President of Senegal’s National Assembly El Malick Ndiaye on Friday. In a statement to the press following his talks with Bourita, the Senegalese official reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting the Royal Initiative for Atlantic Africa, which aims to bolster security, stability, and shared prosperity in the region.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the President of the Senegalese National Assembly stated that his parliamentary institution is currently preparing a second session in Dakar for April or May to launch the operationalization of this important process with 28 countries along the Atlantic coast. This initiative, aimed at assisting landlocked African countries with access to port and airport infrastructure, emphasizes solidarity and cooperation among African nations.
Ndiaye reaffirmed Senegal’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan autonomy initiative, congratulating the Kingdom on the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 concerning the Moroccan Sahara. He also noted discussions with Bourita on strengthening cooperation between Senegal and Morocco in economic, social, religious, and cultural fields.
The Senegalese official praised the excellent bilateral relations and highlighted the significance of high-level visits to reinforce South-South cooperation. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming visit to Morocco by the Senegalese Prime Minister for the 15th Joint High Commission, now represented at the level of heads of government. Ndiaye concluded by commending Morocco for its hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, predicting it will make a significant impact on the history of world football.
