Senegal Coach Expects AFCON 2025 Final Against Hosts Morocco to be Tough


Rabat: Senegal’s coach, Pape Thiaw, stated on Saturday in Rabat that the match against Morocco in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), scheduled for Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (8:00 PM), will be difficult against a team that offers quality play.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Senegalese coach stressed that “this highly anticipated final will be a celebration for Africa and African football,” adding that “playing against the host country is never easy.”



“To play in a final, you have to be ready on all levels against a Moroccan team that is performing well,” he noted, adding that “Morocco has raised the level of African football and we expect a very close match.”



Pape Thiaw also mentioned that “the AFCON has gained in notoriety with a beautiful organization”, specifying that “Morocco has raised the level of this organization and we thank the host country for this.”



Senegalese player Moussa Niakhat© indicated that “the squad is eager to play the final against Morocco, an opponent we respect,” adding that his country’s qualification for the final “is the result of a long-term effort that has spanned several years.”



“We hope to play a good match against Morocco and win the title,” he said.
