Rabat: Snowfall, heavy rain or thunderstorms, a cold wave, and strong wind gusts are expected from Saturday to Tuesday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, snowfall starting from 1,300 meters in altitude (50-90 cm) will affect the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal, and Ouarzazate from Saturday at 10:45 a.m. to Monday at 11:00 p.m., as indicated in an orange-level alert bulletin. During the same period, snowfall of 30-50 cm is expected in the provinces of Chichaoua, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Ifrane, Kh©nifra, Sefrou, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taza, and Taroudant.

Snowfall starting from 1,200 meters is also expected during the same period in the provinces of Driouch, Figuig, Jerada, Errachidia, Taourirt, El Hajeb, Chefchaouen, Chtouka Ait Baha, and Tiznit. Heavy rain or thunderstorms (30-50 mm) are also expected from Saturday at 10:00 p.m. to Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, Mdiq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Larache, Kenitra, Safi, Chtouka Ait Baha, and Tiznit, and 25-35 mm in the provinces of Rabat, Sal©, Skhirate-Temara, Benslimane, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Mediouna, Berrechid, Nouaceur, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Agadir Ida Outanane, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Khemisset, Youssoufia, Inezgane Ait Melloul, and Sidi Ifni.

In addition, a cold wave with temperatures between -9°C and -3°C is expected from Sunday to Tuesday in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, and Kh©nifra. Furthermore, strong wind gusts (75-85 km/h) are expected on Saturday from 10:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tiznit, Tata, and Taroudant, and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tata, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, Tarfaya, and Es-Semara.
