Extremist Israeli settlers took over a Palestinian-owned land today near the town of Deir Dibwan, to the northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources. A group of Israeli settlers guarded by army set up three tents after breaking into the land, located on the outskirts of the town, witnesses said, provoking confrontations with local Palestinian residents amid fears that the latest Israeli measure could be a prelude to establish a new settlement outpost in the area. During the confrontations, the Israeli settlers smashed the windshields of a Palestinian-owned car in the town, added the witnesses. Of note, all kinds of colonial Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal in international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention which expressly bans the relocation of the occupying nation’s civilian population to the land of the occupied.
