Sharjah: HH Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, received Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, on Sunday. Bensaid is leading the Moroccan delegation at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting underscored the robust and enduring relations between Morocco and the UAE, guided by the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The Moroccan Culture Minister praised the organization of the SIBF by Sharjah, highlighting its prestige as a significant cultural event that enhances its international stature with each edition.
Bensaid noted that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure Morocco’s participation as this year’s guest of honor is exceptional. The aim is to make a meaningful contribution that underscores the value of books
as carriers of Moroccan culture.
The Sharjah International Book Fair is one of the world’s largest book fairs, held annually at the Sharjah Expo Centre. The eleven-day event features over 400 literary activities, including writing workshops, poetry readings, and book signings.
The fair showcases books in over 210 languages across various genres, with panels featuring a star-studded lineup of renowned literary figures and authors.
