Rabat: Snowfalls, heavy rain and thundery showers, a cold wave, as well as strong wind gusts are expected from Sunday to Tuesday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, snowfall above 1,300 meters (50-90 cm) is expected from Sunday at 12:00 p.m. until Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. in the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal and Ouarzazate, as noted in an orange-level weather alert issued by the DGM.
Over the same period, snowfall of 30-50 cm is forecasted in the provinces of Chichaoua, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Ifrane, Khénifra, Sefrou, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taza, and Taroudant.
In addition, snowfall above 1,200 meters (10-30 cm) is expected during the same timeframe in the provinces of Driouech, Figuig, Jerada, Errachidia, Taourirt, El Hajeb, Chefchaouen, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, and Oujda.
Heavy rain or thundery showers (30-40 mm) are also forecasted on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Fah
s-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, and Driouech, as well as in the provinces of Nador, Berkane, and Oujda on Monday until noon.
Furthermore, a cold wave with temperatures ranging between -9°C and -3°C is expected from Sunday to Tuesday in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif, Taza, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Fez, and Figuig.
Lastly, strong wind gusts (75-90 km/h) are forecasted on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tata, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, Tarfaya, and Es-Semara, and on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Figuig, Sidi Ifni, and Guelmim.
