Madrid – Spain highly appreciates the significant reforms undertaken by Morocco since the enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, stated Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
“The reforms undertaken by Morocco are very important, particularly in terms of consolidating family and women’s rights and social justice,” Grande-Marlaska told MAP on the occasion of the glorious Throne Day.
The minister stressed that Spain commend these reforms and all the progress recorded in various sectors of activity in Morocco, noting that these achievements consolidate Morocco’s position as a “strategic and reliable partner” both for Spain and for Europe.
“Our relations have reached a level of fraternity that goes beyond neighborly friendship,” Grande-Marlaska affirmed, describing the cooperation and coordination between Spain and Morocco as “exceptional and extraordinary”.
In this regard, he emphasized that the two countries constitute a “model of cooperation at the EU level” in managing challenges as si
gnificant as irregular migration and the fight against human trafficking mafias.
“Europe as a whole draws inspiration from the work carried out in this area between Spain and Morocco and reproduces it at the multilateral level, which is clear evidence of the relevance of this extraordinary Morocco-Spain cooperation,” he continued.
In terms of combating terrorism, Morocco and Spain also represent an “example” in terms of coordination based on trust, he concluded.
