Tangier Police Dismantle Criminal Network Active in Manufacturing Inflatable Boat, Illegal Immigration

Elements of the prefectural service of the Tangier judicial police have dismantled, Thursday, on the basis of accurate information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a criminal network active in the manufacture and trafficking of inflatable boats, illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

The divisional commissioner Abdessamad El Kaidi, head of the prefectural service of the judicial police in Tangier, stressed that the elements of the prefectural service have dismantled, on the basis of accurate information provided by the DGST's services, a criminal network active in manufacturing and trafficking boats and their components without a license, organizing illegal immigration, human trafficking and international drug trafficking.

He said that three suspects, including the network’s mastermind, were arrested in two separate operations, stressing that this operation resulted in the seizure of 59 Kg of Chira, inflatable boats of different sizes, water engines of different types and sizes, marine equipment and a light car.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s news channel, the official said that this operation is part of the efforts made by the Tangier security services to fight against crime in all its forms.

He noted that the suspects have been placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, adding that research is continuing to arrest all those involved in this criminal network.
