The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity launched, on Tuesday, a large-scale medical-surgical caravan in the Taounate province, as part of its program of medical-humanitarian activities initiated during the holy month of Ramadan.

This solidarity campaign, launched by the governor of the Taounate province Saleh Daha and which will continue until April 8 for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Ain Aicha town (located 10 km from Taounate) and neighboring douars (small villages), will allow the surgical management of cataract cases and abdominal surgeries (80 patients) previously listed at the provincial hospital of Taounate.

This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the provincial delegation of Health and Social Protection of Taounate, the university hospital of Fez, the provincial hospital of Taounate, local authorities and medical associations partners of the Foundation (Association Amis des Visually Impaired, Provincial Support Association for Patients with Kidney Failure and the Al Firdaous Association of Taounate).

It will also offer free general and specialized medical services to adults and children in the region, as well as the distribution of 200 eyeglass frames, mainly for children suffering from sight problems.

The campaign is deployed on two sites of intervention: the provincial hospital of Taounate where the surgeries are performed, and Ain Aicha where the caravan dedicated to consultations and multidisciplinary care (general medicine, pediatrics, rheumatology, pulmonology, ENT, ophthalmology, cardiology, gastrology and gynecology), X-ray explorations, biology and delivery of drugs.

In a statement to MAP and its news channel (M24), the head of the medical and humanitarian pole of the Foundation Mohammed V for Solidarity, Omar Moussa Abdellah said that HM King Mohammed VI has given His high instructions in this holy month of Ramadan for the launch of this medical-surgical campaign in the Taounate province.

He added that the operation will be marked by the realization of surgical interventions, whether in general surgery or cataract at the provincial hospital of Taounate, as well as the realization of medical examinations in several specialties at the center of Ain Aicha where the Foundation has mobilized, to accomplish this great operation, more than 100 doctors, specialists, nurses and executives of the Foundation, including its social assistants.

Moussa Abdellah noted that the medical campaign targets nearly 10,000 beneficiaries during five days (from 04 to 08 April), in addition to nearly 100 people to benefit from surgical interventions at the provincial hospital of Taounate.

In order to carry out this campaign in the best conditions and to provide the necessary care to the population, important human, material and technical means including 11 mobile medical units have been mobilized, in addition to the medical teams and social assistants of the Foundation.

Thus, 28 specialists, 12 general practitioners and 16 paramedical staff (nurses, midwives and technicians) are participating in this humanitarian and solidarity initiative.
