Elements of the judicial police in the cities of Tetouan, Fnideq and Tangier, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested three individuals aged between 18 and 20 on Friday, for allegedly publishing fake news and digital content inciting irregular emigration.

The national police's computer surveillance services had detected digital publications inciting users of social networking platforms and applications to emigrate irregularly via Bab Sebta, according to a security source.

Technical and field investigations led to the suspects being identified and arrested during security operations in Tetouan, Tangier and Fnideq.

The suspects are being investigated by the Tetouan prefectural judicial police department under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office, in order to uncover the real motive behind these criminal acts, the same source emphasized, noting that searches and investigations are under way to arrest all accomplices involved in publishing and distributing the content in question.

This security operation is part of the strict measures and intensive efforts deployed by the national police and the DGST to combat irregular emigration and human trafficking networks, concluded the same source.
