Abu Dhabi, Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, participated as a keynote speaker at the 63rd International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) conference in Abu Dhabi. The theme of the session on “Business Trends and Growth,” is in line with the conference’s core themes of innovation, sustainability, and cultural awareness.

The ICCA conference is a key international event that gathers experts in the meetings, exhibitions, and conventions sector from around the world. It provides a platform for sharing knowledge and developing innovative strategies to address the sector’s evolving needs.

The minister emphasised the conference’s significance as a platform for exchanging ideas and enhancing international cooperation in this field. She highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a leading global tourism destination. As part of its 2022-2026 tourism strategy, Bahrain aims to boost the sector’s contribution to GDP and attract a diverse range of visitors, focusing on exhibi
tions and conventions.

Minister Al Sairafi noted Bahrain’s progress in developing tourism infrastructure, particularly with the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which won the award for the best new centre globally. The centre is a flagship project aimed at hosting major international events.

Additionally, the development of Bahrain International Airport, which has also won awards, further enhances tourist access. Bahrain continues to strengthen its infrastructure to position itself as a top destination for conferences and exhibitions, both regionally and globally, driving economic growth and sustainable development.

The minister highlighted that public-private partnerships are crucial for improving services and fostering innovation in organising events. She reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment in tourism, supporting sustainable development goals, and enhancing public-private collaboration.

She also noted Bahrain’s dedication to strengthening
cooperation with GCC countries to support tourism integration and boost the region’s appeal to global tourists.
