Rabat: This text marks “a very significant development,” in that, for the Security Council, the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative is no longer merely a realistic and credible proposal that could help resolve a dispute that has lasted fifty years, but now constitutes the only basis for negotiation leading to a final settlement of the issue, Boutin explained.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in a Speech on Friday evening, His Majesty King Mohammed VI emphasized that the U.N. Security Council resolution lays out the principles and foundations for the achievement of a final political solution to the Sahara question, in full respect of Morocco’s legitimate rights.
The success of Royal Diplomacy in this matter is evident, Boutin affirmed, praising the Sovereign’s vision, which has driven long-term diplomatic action characterized by the sustained development of the Sahara region and ongoing engagement with other states on the international stage.
