Rabat: This is a “very positive” vote that recognizes the Autonomy Initiative as the basis for resolving the Moroccan Sahara issue, von Schirach told MAP, noting that the overwhelming majority of the international community views Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the “most the logical, viable solution” to this regional dispute.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the US expert underlined that this near-unanimous consensus shared by major world powers reflects the relevance of the forward-looking Royal Vision and demonstrates the soundness of Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative as the only viable path toward peace and prosperity in the region and beyond.
This “historic” Security Council vote also underscores that the time has come to take the decisive step toward a final resolution of this regional dispute, based on the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative and in full respect of Morocco’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said von Schirach, also professor of Political Science and International Relations at Bay Atlantic University in Washington DC.
He further highlighted the wisdom and relevance of His Majesty the King’s call for a “sincere and brotherly” dialogue with Algeria to lay the foundations for new relations based on trust, fraternity, and good neighborliness.
