Berlin: The spokesperson for economic cooperation and development of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, which forms the governing coalition with the conservatives of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU), has expressed strong support for the recently passed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797. The resolution, along with the diplomatic efforts led by HM King Mohammed VI, has been described as “decisive in achieving this result.”
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the German MP emphasized the profound significance of the UN resolution, stating that it sends a hopeful “strong signal beyond the regional framework in favor of peaceful conflict resolution.” This statement underscores the importance attributed to the resolution in fostering peace and stability.
The MP, Abdi, highlighted that the UN Security Council resolution aligns perfectly with the ethos of the Green March, which advocates for peaceful progress. She noted that the resolution enshrines the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the sole basis for a lasting solution to the regional conflict, marking it as a key step forward.
Furthermore, she pointed out that the Kingdom of Morocco is an essential strategic partner for Germany, especially in areas such as security, the economy, and ecological transition. This partnership underscores the broader implications of the resolution and the diplomatic efforts that led to its adoption.
