Rabat: Deputy Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors Lahcen Haddad engaged in discussions in Rabat with Marcelino Owono Edu, President of the National Council for Economic and Social Development of Equatorial Guinea, who is currently on a working visit to Morocco. The focus of their talks was on enhancing bilateral relations and fostering parliamentary partnerships between the two nations, alongside addressing several shared interests in economic, social, and developmental sectors.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Haddad underscored the historic and fraternal bonds between Morocco and Equatorial Guinea. He highlighted the special attention Morocco, guided by the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, dedicates to developing and strengthening cooperation with Equatorial Guinea. Haddad also mentioned the formalization of the legal framework for bilateral partnerships through numerous agreements covering agriculture, hydrocarbons, port management, and finance sectors.
Furthermore, Haddad commended Equatorial Guinea’s ongoing support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of enhancing strategic coordination between the two countries in multilateral forums, particularly within the African Union and the United Nations.
In response, Owono Edu praised the robust bilateral relations and fraternal ties, acknowledging their strategic significance. He also recognized Morocco’s efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to bolster cooperation with Equatorial Guinea across various fields such as trade, defense, tourism, and higher education.
Additionally, Owono Edu stressed the necessity of developing cooperation and consultation mechanisms between the House of Councillors and the CNDES, advocating for the continuous promotion of bilateral, regional, and international parliamentary cooperation for the benefit of the two friendly nations.
