UPR: Justice Minister Leads Moroccan Delegation to Interactive Dialogue under 4th Cycle

In accordance with the Kingdom’s international commitments in the field of human rights, and as part of its positive interaction with UN human rights mechanisms and the consolidation of conventional practices, the national report will be presented on Tuesday, November 8, before the HRC, on the occasion of the 41st session of the working group of the UPR mechanism, said Sunday a statement by the Ministry of Justice.

This interactive dialogue, which will see the examination by 127 countries, including Morocco, of all aspects of human rights (political, civil, economic, social and cultural), will be an opportunity to highlight the constant choice of the Kingdom in the protection and promotion of human rights, in enshrinement of the vision of HM King Mohammed VI, the same source added. It is also an occasion to focus on the progress made in meeting the Kingdom’s commitments in the field of human rights, in addition to sharing its pioneering experience in interacting with the UN system of human rights, while making the UPR a tool for promoting these rights.

The examination of the national report, which comes after the election of Morocco for the third time as a member of the UNHRC, will be marked by the speech of the Kingdom, as well as the response to written questions previously addressed by member countries and concerns raised during the interactive meeting scheduled for November 8, with a view to adopting the recommendations on Friday, November 11, according to the statement.

It should be recalled that the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights had prepared the national report under the 4th cycle of the UPR mechanism during the period from July 2021 to August 2022, in accordance with the relevant UN guidelines and had submitted the said report to the UPR Secretariat on August 3, 2022.
