Video Claims on ‘Hicham Mandari”s Death Have Nothing to do with Reality – Judicial Official

Rabat: In a press release, the Public Prosecutor clarified that the said recordings were under judicial investigation, as a result of which the deceased’s brother was brought before the court. The investigation revealed that the footage’s content had entirely nothing to do with reality, and that they stem from his imagination, as evidenced by a number of elements.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the latter includes the spontaneous statements made by the deceased’s brother mentioned in the police report during the preliminary investigation, in which he admitted to purchasing prepaid SIM cards to communicate with the owner of the website since late 2023. He also admitted to having sought the website owner’s phone number via social media, initiating contact, and introducing himself under the name of a retired security officer, pretending he had significant information about the deceased’s death, which he wished to provide for publication on his website.

These elements are also based on his statements mentioned in the police report during the preliminary investigation that the recordings published on the website contained data and information entirely fictitious, by inventing false events which he supplied to the website operator for the purpose of dissemination. The individual has also issued false claims to the same website, stating that the deceased’s mother had passed away, while in reality she is still alive.

By virtue of the criminal code, these acts constitute criminal offenses punishable by law. Accordingly, the individual was brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which, given the seriousness of the acts committed, decided to refer him to court in custody, according to the same source. On July 14, 2025, the court rendered a verdict convicting him of the charges and sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of 50,000 dirhams, concludes the press release.
