Rabat: Women’s national team coach Jorge Vilda said on Saturday in Rabat that qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil is the result of the women’s football development project led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, speaking at the post-match press conference following the 2-1 quarterfinal victory over South Africa, Vilda explained that qualifying for the World Cup was the national team’s primary objective, while praising the massive support from the crowd throughout the match.

Regarding the course of the game, the national team coach stressed that Morocco had a very good first half, marked by greater control of the game and the creation of several chances, while praising the defensive line for its ability to neutralize the threat posed by the South African attack for most of the match.

He added that the course of the match changed after the second goal, when the South African team pushed forward in force and committed more players to the attacking line, forcing the Moroccan players to drop back and defend.

Regarding the semifinal, Vilda said that Morocco would learn its opponent following the Nigeria-Cameroon match, stressing that the national team knows both sides well, having already faced them, and that the current priority would be the players’ physical and mental recovery.

The national team will face the winner of the Cameroon-Nigeria match in the semifinal on Wednesday at Stade Moulay El Hassan in Rabat, starting at 9:00 p.m.
