RABAT: Nearly 3.8 million self-employed workers in Morocco are now beneficiaries of health insurance, as part of a broader initiative to expand social protection under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, revealed these figures during a press briefing on Thursday.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Baitas highlighted that the number of beneficiaries has reached 3,769,000, reflecting the government’s commitment to increasing access to health coverage. Additionally, 11,048,656 individuals under the Medical Assistance Scheme (RAMED), who are unable to pay membership fees, are receiving medical coverage.
The government, as part of a strategic project to generalize social protection, is actively working on reforming the social protection system. Baitas emphasized the significance of ongoing efforts to review legislation and implement measures aimed at enhancing this system. He
noted that this initiative, launched just a year ago, requires continuous improvement to achieve its full potential.
