Casablanca: Burkina Faso defeated Equatorial Guinea 2-1 as part of Group E’s first matchday of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco-2025, played Wednesday at Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Equatorial Guinea opened the score through Marvin Anieboh at the 85th minute. Burkina Faso equalized with a goal from Georgi Minoungou in the fifth minute of stoppage time and secured victory with Edmond Tapsoba’s decisive goal three minutes later.

Following this win, Burkina Faso leads Group E with 3 points, while Equatorial Guinea is at the bottom with no points. The other fixture of this group pits Algeria against Sudan at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
