AFCON Morocco-2025 Day 2: Egypt Bests South Africa 1-0


Agadir: The Egyptian national football team defeated its South African peer 1-0 in the second day of Group B play in the Morocco-2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), held Friday at the Grand Stadium in Agadir.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Egypt opened the scoring through a penalty shot netted by Mohamed Salah in the 45th minute. Shortly afterwards, his teammate Mohamed Hany was sent off due to a second yellow card just before the end of the first half.



Following this match and the 1-1 draw between Zimbabwe and Angola, Egypt leads Group B with 6 points, ahead of South Africa (3 points), while Angola and Zimbabwe have one point each.
