Arab Monetary Fund Chief Praises Morocco’s Housing Policies

Rabat: The Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Turki, praised Morocco’s housing policies on Wednesday, highlighting their role in bolstering economic and social stability. Al-Turki’s remarks came during a high-level conference in Rabat focused on financing affordable and sustainable housing.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Al-Turki emphasized Morocco’s efforts in reforming and regulating the real estate sector, making homeownership more attainable. He noted the integration of green spaces into affordable housing and the promotion of climate-conscious technologies as measures to reduce rising energy costs.

Al-Turki discussed Morocco’s two-pronged approach to housing finance, which includes supply-side incentives to motivate developers and demand-side measures to enhance the purchasing power of low-income households. He stressed the importance of expanding access to affordable financing and increasing awareness of available housing programs.

The AMF chief also underscored the value of sharing best practices among countries to refine strategies and strengthen affordable housing initiatives. The conference, a collaborative effort between the AMF and Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of National Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, will focus on financial accessibility, sustainable construction, and technological innovations in low-cost real estate.
