AU Commissioner Highlights Morocco’s Role in Strengthening Electoral Governance in Africa


Addis ababa: During his annual meeting with African and international media, the Commissioner for Political Affairs highlighted Morocco’s support for electoral governance across Africa. The Kingdom’s ongoing contributions to enhancing electoral processes and building democratic institutions within the African Union (AU) Member States were underscored.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Commissioner stated that Morocco continues to be a reliable partner in raising the standards and professionalism of election observation within the AU. The Kingdom’s involvement extends to various initiatives, including the organization of the Training Cycle for African Election Observers. This program, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, and the AU’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, has been instrumental in equipping African experts with improved skills in election observation.



The Commissioner’s remarks reflect Morocco’s commitment to supporting democratic institutions and processes across the continent, highlighting its role in fostering electoral governance in alignment with AU objectives.
