Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are organizing a high-level roundtable on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) next Monday in Rabat, under the theme “The role of the public sector in money and payments – A new vision”.
The round table is part of the activities scheduled in the run-up to this year’s IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, to be held in Marrakech, a statement said.
The round table will kick off with a high-level debate featuring the participation of IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and Morocco’s central bank governor Abdellatif Jouahri.
According to the same source, the event will bring together senior officials from international financial institutions and regulatory bodies to examine the implications of MNBCs for monetary policy, financial stability, financial inclusion and international payments.
