Colonial Israeli settlers have demolished the Palestinian Bedouin community of Al-Qanoub, east of the town of Sa’ir in the southern West Bank province of Hebron, according to local sources. The community’s residents had been displaced earlier this month amid death threats by colonial settler groups.

Mohammad Al-Shalalda, a local resident, informed WAFA that the residents were unaware of the demolition, which occurred earlier this month, until one of them managed to reach the community to inspect their homes. He said the resident discovered that the settlers had completely demolished their residences, including furniture and clothing.

Al-Shalalda explained, “We were not allowed to take anything when we were forced to leave our homes. The settlers demolished five houses, seized tents and makeshift shelters that housed several families, in addition to stealing all the belongings and possessions of the residents.”

The settlers not only destroyed the homes but also took solar energy cells that the residents we
re using, he added. Furthermore, they set up tents in the vicinity of the demolished homes, attacking anyone attempting to approach the area.

Five families, comprising over 27 individuals, had to leave their homes in the Al-Qanoub area earlier this month due to attacks by armed Israeli settler gangs. These attacks targeted their properties, resulting in the destruction of their homes and the theft of a large number of their sheep. The settlers threatened the residents with either death or eviction.

It is noteworthy that just two days ago, a group of settlers set fire to the Zanuta Mixed Elementary School, south of Hebron, less than a month after over 250 residents of the village were forcibly displaced due to attacks by armed settler gangs.
