FIFA President Infantino Praises Morocco’s Sports Infrastructure Progress

Cape Verde:FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Morocco for its advancements in sports infrastructure during his remarks at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Strategy Conference in Cape Verde. The conference, which took place from October 7-9, was attended by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Infantino highlighted Morocco as a leading African nation in developing football infrastructure. He noted significant projects such as national training centers, stadiums, competition facilities, and new headquarters for football federations as examples of Morocco’s progress.

Infantino also mentioned FIFA’s financial contributions to African football, with an investment of one billion dollars over the past decade, including $500 million in the last four years. This investment supported 124 projects and other initiatives across the continent.

The FIFA President pointed out the success of African national teams, with nine out of ten advancing to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup, a significant improvement from the 2018 tournament when none of the five participating African teams reached that stage.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe described the conference as a pivotal strategic meeting, allowing member associations to evaluate the progress and challenges of African football. He emphasized the need for collective efforts and cooperation to build on recent achievements and praised the dedication of the leaders from the 54 member associations.

The conference will continue with discussions on Africa’s performance at the 2026 World Cup, featuring key figures such as FIFA’s Director of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger and Morocco’s national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi.
