Marrakech:A partnership agreement was signed between Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Boeing during the 8th Marrakech Airshow, held at the Royal Armed Forces Air Base.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the agreement was signed by Boeing’s regional president for the Middle East and North Africa, Fahad Al Mheiri, and RAM’s flight operations division director, Naoual Ait Hammou. It focuses on refurbishing the cabins of seven B787-8 aircraft that RAM acquired new between 2015 and 2018.
The refurbishment aims to upgrade the interiors of these aircraft to enhance the in-flight experience and align them with high comfort standards. These seven aircraft are part of RAM’s long-haul fleet, which includes six B787-9 aircraft and operates flights from Casablanca to various destinations, including cities in North America, South America, and Asia.
The B787-8 aircraft have a capacity of 274 seats, while the larger B787-9s exceed 300 seats. In total, RAM’s long-haul fleet comprises 12 aircraft. Ait Hammou stated that RAM’s fleet has expanded to 71 aircraft, a historic record, and is expected to reach 73 by the end of 2026. RAM’s strategy through 2037 aims to expand the fleet to 200 brand-new aircraft with high-quality cabins.
Al Mheiri highlighted the longstanding partnership between RAM and Boeing, spanning over 70 years, and expressed satisfaction with the American manufacturer’s aircraft. He also mentioned that Boeing is preparing a refurbishment project for RAM’s aircraft interiors in anticipation of the upcoming World Cup, to provide an optimal experience for passengers.
