Marrakech:The Ministry of Industry and Trade has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with several global stakeholders in the aviation sector during the 8th Marrakech Airshow, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. These agreements aim to enhance the development of Morocco’s aerospace industry, focusing on international competitiveness and integration.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the ministry has entered into an MoU with APS Coating to establish a surface treatment facility for aerospace components. This initiative involves an investment of £18 million and is expected to create 120 direct jobs.
Additionally, a MoU was signed with MATIS to expand its industrial facility dedicated to manufacturing electrical wiring for the aerospace industry. This project entails an investment of $16.457 million and will create 750 direct jobs.
Furthermore, the ministry reached an agreement with the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) and MECAPOLE to develop machining capabilities for aerospace parts for airplanes and helicopters. This venture represents a £10 million investment and will generate 80 direct jobs.
Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour stated that these agreements align with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, focusing on projects in aircraft assembly and aerospace structures. Mezzour highlighted the importance of these initiatives in advancing the sector’s development and strengthening national capabilities, including innovation partnerships with global leaders to develop new technologies.
The minister also noted that the aerospace sector currently employs approximately 25,000 skilled workers and experiences annual growth exceeding 10 percent, reflecting the development of a globally recognized industrial ecosystem.
