Foreign Ministry rejects, condemns Netanyahu’s statements pledging to continue genocide war against Gaza

RAMALLAH: The State of Palestine rejected and condemned the latest statements made by Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, pledging to continue the genocidal war in defiance of both the international community and the role of the International Court of Justice. The same objectionable sentiment was also echoed by other officials, including Israel’s representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, who called for the UN to be put on trial before the Court.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in a statement, stressed that states that have enabled, encouraged and participated in Israel’s genocide are also complicit in these attacks against the Court and its officials.

Their politicized and polarizing positions are also aimed at the legitimate right of States to resort to the Court and reflect an unacceptable double standard that betrays the principles and purpose of the UN Charter, said the statement.

The State of Palestine saluted the principled positions and solidarity of many States, organizations
, and millions of people worldwide. ‘They have shown moral consistency and true dedication to the universality of international law and the institutions charged with its protection, including the International Court of Justice.’

“We are at a crossroads requiring political courage. We have a responsibility to reject and stop the selective application of international law, which will result in its irrelevance., while the world is watching,” the statement concluded.
