French-Algerian National Arrested in Marrakech on International Warrant

Rabat: Marrakech Policemen, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested a French national of Algerian descent on Monday evening, who was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) stated in a press release that the 27-year-old suspect was arrested after a check of the Interpol database revealed he was wanted under a “Red Notice” issued by French judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking operation linked to a criminal network and a murder attempt.

The suspect has been placed in police custody as part of the extradition process, while the French security authorities have been notified of the arrest, pending the submission of the extradition file, the source added.

This arrest is part of international security cooperation along with the Moroccan security services’ efforts to pursue individuals sought internationally for crimes related to cross-border criminal activities, the DGSN concluded.
