Rabat: French Ambassador Lecourtier, appearing on M’hamed Bhiri’s program “Inter Matin” broadcast Wednesday on Chaîne Inter, described October 31 as a ‘historic date.’
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Lecourtier expressed his privilege in witnessing what he termed a historic resolution. He emphasized his commitment as a witness to the events of recent years. The ambassador lauded Morocco’s achievements under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, highlighting the robust cooperation between France and the Kingdom across various sectors.
The French diplomat reiterated France’s steadfast support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty. He underscored French President Emmanuel Macron’s dedication to this process and assured that “France stands by Morocco just as Morocco stood by France.”
Lecourtier noted that France would maintain its collaborative efforts with Morocco, referencing the recent state visit by the French President to the Kingdom. The visit r
esulted in a strategic agenda aimed at tackling major challenges shared by both nations over the next two decades.
Moreover, the ambassador highlighted Morocco’s vision for Africa, particularly with regard to the Sahel and Sub-Saharan regions. He remarked that the southern provinces of Morocco present an opportunity not only for the Kingdom but for Africa as a whole, fostering a promising future for the continent and enhancing France’s relationship with African nations.
