Rabat: Thanks to the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, an unprecedented model of inclusion has taken shape: a comprehensive pathway accompanying each child from early detection to university success.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, it is a complete medical, educational, and social model led by the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.
It all begins with a surgery: the cochlear implant-an electronic device placed under the skin that captures sound and converts it into signals transmitted directly to the auditory nerve. It is not natural hearing, but it opens the door to speech, music, and life.
Committed for decades to children with hearing impairments, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa has given a decisive momentum to this cause over the past three years, the statement notes.
Under her impetus, the Lalla Asmaa Foundation has become more structured and professional, equipped with modern technical, medical, and educational resources. It is during this period that the Moroccan model took off, as facilities multiplied, and the miracle of the implant spread throughout the Kingdom.
Today, 850 Moroccan children have undergone surgery and been supported in this respect. The Foundation’s network is built around the diagnostic center in Rabat and three inclusive schools (in Rabat, Tangier, and Meknes), with three more to open in Fes, Fkih Ben Salah, and Marrakesh.
On average, 400 children are followed each year. Several now pursue higher education-11 master’s and two doctoral degrees have already been completed.
Behind these figures stands the dedication of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa. Deeply committed to the cause of deaf children, Her Royal Highness closely monitors every case, stays informed about new technologies, and observes teaching methods, from preschool classes to university programs.
Her daily involvement reflects Her Royal Highness’ profound conviction: inclusion is a right, not a privilege.
In 2022, this expertise gave rise to the “Together, We Hear Each Other Better” program, now uniting 21 countries across Africa, the MENA region, and Latin America, adds the same source.
This program extends the Foundation’s mission: to share knowledge, train teams, and offer every child the right to hear, learn, and grow. It forms part of the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for an inclusive, united, and Africa-oriented Morocco.
