Marrakech: Moroccan security forces arrested a French national of Tunisian origin at Marrakech-Menara International Airport on Tuesday, acting on an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities, a security source said.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the 40-year-old suspect was detained after an Interpol database check confirmed he was wanted for alleged involvement in drug and psychotropic substance trafficking. The source added that he has been placed in police custody pending extradition proceedings.
French authorities have been notified to submit the necessary documentation for the extradition process. This arrest marks a part of Morocco’s broader security cooperation efforts to track down individuals wanted internationally for cross-border crimes.
