Riyadh, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the initiative of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, regarding the ceasefire and Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees, and the return of the displaced to their homes safely, and to provide adequate humanitarian aid to civilians.
The Secretary-General praised the efforts made by Qatar and Egypt to achieve a ceasefire and stop Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Albudaiwi also stressed the need to build on this declaration to reach a political framework to resume negotiations in order to achieve comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
