Cabo verde: The “historic” resolution adopted by the UN Security Council commends the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts, highlights the constructive role of its diplomacy, and calls for a resumption of the political process under the auspices of the Secretary-General, said the former Cabo Verdean foreign minister. This recognition strengthens Morocco’s legitimacy and illustrates the international community’s trust in the Kingdom’s peaceful and pragmatic vision.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the timing of this resolution is notable, occurring on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Green March. Many observers have described the resolution as historic. The Royal speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI after the adoption of the UN resolution positions Morocco at the center of a diplomatic approach that promotes stability, peaceful coexistence, and shared development.
The Royal speech reaffirms that Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara is upheld not only by law but also through reason and a commitment to a shared African destiny. Tavares pointed out that under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, Morocco is advancing its development work both nationally and internationally. This includes enshrining its territorial integrity, bolstering its African diplomacy, and establishing the Atlantic as a zone of stability and shared prosperity.
“Fifty years on, the spirit of the Green March continues to light the way for a sovereign, united and forward-looking Morocco,” he said.
