Interior Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with French Counterpart in Marrakech

Marrakech: Interior Minister Holds Talks in Marrakech with French Peer. This bilateral meeting provided the opportunity for the two parties to review different issues of mutual interest from their respective Departments, the ministry of the Interior said in a statement.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the two ministers welcomed the solid foundation of bilateral cooperation on security and migration, rooted in mutual trust, strengthened by ongoing dialogue, and supported by shared views on strategic issues. They recalled that this cooperation is fully in line with the Declaration of Reinforced Exceptional Partnership signed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, during the state visit in October 2024.

On the subject of migration, the two ministers emphasized the positive role played by the Morocco-France Permanent Joint Migration Group (GMMP), which is the appropriate mechanism for dialogue and coordination on migration issues. The two ministers then examined ways of further strengthening channels for the exchange of expertise and information in order to maintain a dynamic capable of constructively addressing multiple threats, particularly those linked to the activities of terrorist groups and criminal networks, especially in the Sahel-Saharan region, the statement concluded.
