Marrakech: Driven by the leadership of His Majesty the King, ‘the security issue has been taken head-on, and we are seeing today, particularly in Mali and West Africa, that this security cooperation is progressing well,’ Kon© told MAP following his talks with the Director-General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, on the sidelines of the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly, held from November 24 to 27.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in Mali, both the people and the government ‘rightly appreciate this cooperation,’ Kon© said, stressing the importance of ‘promoting synergy and joint action.’ Highlighting the significance of Morocco hosting the INTERPOL General Assembly, proof that the Kingdom is ‘well prepared to meet security challenges at the national, regional and global levels,’ the Malian security official praised the ‘vigor and professionalism’ of Moroccan security services.
‘In Mali, we rely on cooperation with Morocco, notably through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the exchange and sharing of intelligence and the training of officers,’ Kon© stated, adding that this partnership forms part of efforts to combat all forms of crime in the Sahel and across Africa.
Kon© added that he discussed South-South cooperation with Hammouchi, commending the willingness of the Kingdom’s security services to support Mali in its fight against cross-border crime and terrorism in the Sahel.
