Rabat: Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party (PI) Nizar Baraka emphasized on Sunday evening that accelerating development and creating jobs are key priorities for his party as the September 23 legislative elections approach.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during a rally held in Laayoune as part of the party’s electoral campaign, Baraka introduced a series of new programs and projects aimed at providing a significant economic and social boost to Morocco and its southern provinces. The initiatives focus on structuring projects that include green hydrogen, phosphates and green fertilizers, renewable energy, seawater desalination, and water resource mobilization for irrigation.

Baraka stated that these initiatives are designed to strengthen food and energy security while advancing digital security. At the regional level, the party intends to create direct and indirect employment opportunities and facilitate local companies’ access to subcontracting activities, services, and supply chains.

Furthermore, the Istiqlal Party plans to support small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and youth-led initiatives to transform investment in the region into a genuine driver of employment and local development. Regional priorities also include housing construction and establishing an integrated higher education university in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region.

The party’s agenda advocates for the establishment of a National School of Business and Management (ENCG) in Laayoune to offer high-quality academic training. The rally also outlined the party’s electoral program, presenting its candidates for the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra constituencies, attended by local and provincial party officials.

The commitments highlighted by the Istiqlal Party include efforts to enhance family cohesion and resilience, combat corruption, and improve household purchasing power while strengthening the middle class. The party also aims to bolster public services within the social state, particularly in education and healthcare, and reinforce strategic sovereignty.
