RAMALLAH: The head of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, Qaddoura Fares, today called on international community to take an immediate action to disclose the hidden Israeli prisons and detention centers that were established after the 7th of October.
Fares affirmed that Palestinian detainees held in occupation jails since October 7 have been deliberately subjected to various forms of torture and maltreatment, in a clear violation to international laws and principles, according to a report published by Channel 13.
Fares said in a statement that ‘the report published by the Israeli Channel 13 about the types of torture imposed on those who were arrested on October 7 or throughout the days of the Israeli aggression, proved that the occupying state used internationally-prohibited torture and abuse methods against the Palestinian detainees.”
Fares added, “What is the international community waiting for? Isn’t all this violence and crime against the activists of the Palestinian people in the occup
ation prisons enough? And does the international community want us to wake up to an unprecedented tragedy in the history of humanity?
“All these questions and many others have become a cry of anger that we raise every day in the face of humanity,” Fares noted.
Fares strongly condemned the forms of torture to which Palestinian detainees are subjected to by Israeli forces in general in all occupation prisons and detention centers, and in particular the detainees from the Gaza Strip, who were abandoned by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
