Lower House SG Elected ASGAP Chairperson


Rabat: The Secretary-General of the Lower House has been elected as the Chairperson of the Association of Secretaries-General of African Parliaments (ASGAP) during a significant gathering aimed at fostering strategic coordination and enhancing African integration through legislative institutions. This high-level conclave serves as a crucial platform for secretaries-general from various African regions to discuss and consolidate their efforts.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting offered a valuable opportunity to address key strategic priorities that are essential for bolstering the effectiveness of the Association’s work. It also highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of parliaments across the continent. The discussions focused on developing an ASGAP strategic policy framework, implementing accountability mechanisms, promoting good governance and institutional transparency, and equipping the Association to tackle emerging challenges effectively.

The gathering witnessed active p
articipation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including secretaries-general of national and regional parliaments, representatives from the African Union Commission, and experts in parliamentary administration and governance. These participants collectively contributed to the dialogue on enhancing the efficiency and impact of parliaments in various domains at the continental level.
