Journalist and Writer Saïd Jedidi Passes Away


Rabat: The deceased completed his secondary education in Tetouan before pursuing university studies in England and Spain. He then joined the Spanish section of RTM, where he held the positions of editor-in-chief and then head of department.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, on the radio, Saïd Jedidi covered the Green March. His perfect command of Spanish opened the doors to correspondence for many foreign media outlets, including the Spanish daily El País, the Televisa-Galavisión channel, and Inforred (Mexico).

After a distinguished career in broadcasting, he continued his involvement in writing and publishing, founding L’Opinion Semanal and La Mañana, hosting the blog Con Acento Marroquí, and running the Spanish-language news site Info Marruecos.

A renowned speaker, he gave numerous lectures at universities in Morocco and abroad and made frequent visits to Spanish-speaking countries, particularly Argentina and Spain, whose culture he considered a second linguistic refuge.

Alongside his career in j
ournalism, Saïd Jedidi established himself as a Spanish-language writer. He is the author of several literary works, including ‘Yamna’ and ‘Grito primae,’ which are listed in various university documentation centers.

The deceased was awarded the Order of Merit by Spain in recognition of his efforts to bring Moroccan television viewers closer to the Spanish language through the news programs he presented for three decades.
