Rabat: Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI on Thursday in So Tom© at the inauguration ceremony for President of So Tom© and Prncipe Carlos Vila Nova, who was re-elected to a second term following elections held on July 19.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during the ceremony, held at the National Assembly headquarters and attended by heads of State and government, Vila Nova was sworn in as President of the Republic of So Tom© and Prncipe for a new five-year term. Akhannouch was accompanied at the ceremony by Morocco’s ambassador to Gabon and So Tom© and Prncipe Abdellah Sbihi.
His Majesty the King had previously sent a message of congratulations to Vila Nova on the occasion of his reelection, in which the Sovereign reaffirmed His determination to continue working with the So Tom©an President towards stronger distinguished ties between the two countries. These ties are rooted in brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual esteem, and driven by a shared commitment to fostering constructive bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.
Carlos Vila Nova was re-elected in the first round of the presidential election with 55.88% of the vote.
