Rabat:The Moroccan Sahara remains a top priority for national causes, as stated by Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri. She emphasized on Monday that the Moroccan government will continue to defend the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, El Mansouri presented the Government Program to both Houses of Parliament, highlighting the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. The government aims to gather support for the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty and accelerate development in the Southern Provinces, which serve as a gateway to Africa and the Atlantic. Additionally, El Mansouri reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian cause and Al-Quds Asharif, based on a two-State solution under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
El Mansouri noted that the Government Program is founded on fundamental national principles, including Islamic tolerance, constitutional democracy, and social monarchy. It also emphasizes national unity, democratic choices, cultural diversity, equality, and opportunities. The High Royal Guidelines, particularly the 2026 Throne Speech, serve as the primary reference for government actions. King Mohammed VI called for a new developmental cycle to preserve achievements and advance major projects and reforms.
The Royal Speech to Parliament addressed current challenges, such as balancing economic growth with social justice, focusing on youth in policies, and enhancing the private sector’s role. These challenges include accelerating projects in water, energy, food security, industrial development, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence, along with implementing regionalization and administrative de-concentration.
Guided by the New Development Model and “Morocco 2035” ambition, the government aims for a productive economy, skilled human capital, broader inclusion, sustainable development, and efficient governance. The program draws on past assessments and seeks to solidify achievements in social protection, healthcare, education, investment, and infrastructure, while addressing job creation and service improvement.
El Mansouri affirmed that the program aligns with the majority parties’ frameworks, their electoral commitments, and will be implemented gradually, ensuring operational feasibility and financial sustainability.
