Rabat: Several provinces in Morocco are bracing for a heatwave, hot weather and thundery showers accompanied by strong wind gusts and hail from Friday through Sunday, according to the national weather authority (DGM).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the provinces of Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Guercif, and Boulemane are forecast to experience a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 40°C and 45°C during this period, the Directorate General of Meteorology says in an orange-level weather alert bulletin.
Hot weather ranging between 39°C and 42°C is also expected on Saturday and Sunday in the provinces of Taza, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Fez, Moulay Yaacoub, and Taounate.
In addition, thundery showers bringing between 20 mm and 30 mm of rainfall, accompanied by strong wind gusts and hail, are forecast on Friday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Khenifra, Midelt, Ifrane, Boulemane, and Sefrou, the press release concludes.
