Rabat: Morocco has reiterated its support for Mali’s sovereignty and national unity, said on Wednesday in Rabat the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. Mali’s stability is considered ‘fundamental’ for regional stability, Bourita emphasized during a press conference following his meeting with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau. He recalled that the Kingdom has already vigorously condemned the terrorist attacks targeting civil and military facilities in Mali.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bourita stated that Morocco condemns these attacks, considering them unacceptable and noting that they have caused many victims. The minister highlighted that the Sahel region is experiencing a “very critical” phase in its history. He warned against a “clear collusion between separatism and terrorism,” emphasizing the need for intervention by the directly concerned actors at both regional and international levels.
Bourita further stressed the importance of engaging in dynamics focused on stability and respecting the choices of the populations. He advocated for relationships based on cooperation rather than blackmail and intimidation, underscoring the necessity of reversing the current trends to ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
