Rabat – A Royal Navy high-seas patrol boat provided, on Thursday, 222 km southwest of Dakhla, assistance to a pirogue in difficulty with 32 sub-Saharan candidates for irregular migration on board, including 02 minors.
The pirogue set sail from the Mauritanian coast on Wednesday, intending to reach the Canary Islands, according to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The rescued people received first aid on board, before being brought safely to the Dakhla Port and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source added.
