Official Calls AI Strategic Lever for Sustainable Development, Improvement of Public Services

Princeton: Artificial intelligence (AI) is a strategic lever for sustainable development, the improvement of public services, and the resolution of complex societal issues, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said on Monday in Princeton, New Jersey.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Seghrouchni was speaking at the 4th Africa Impact Lectures as the keynote speaker on the theme “Africa’s Development in the Age of AI.” She highlighted the strategic role of AI, particularly distributed AI based on multi-agent systems, the ministry said in a press release.

In the presence of the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN Omar Hilale, Seghrouchni also engaged with students, researchers, and members of the Princeton academic community on issues related to digital transformation in Africa, the same source adds.

Against the backdrop of accelerating digital transformation worldwide, the minister stated that AI represents a transformative opportunity for Africa, driven by a young workforce, rapidly expanding innovation ecosystems, and growing investment in digital infrastructure.

She also highlighted Morocco’s ambition, in line with High Royal Guidelines, to make AI a pillar of digital sovereignty, economic competitiveness, and territorial inclusion through skill development, technological capacity building, and the promotion of an innovative and responsible ecosystem.

The minister further noted that the Kingdom is positioning itself as a leading continental platform for sovereign and inclusive AI. Through transformative initiatives, notably the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub (D4SD), developed in partnership with the UNDP, as well as hosting the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, which brought together over 2,000 participants from several countries.

Driven by the “AI Made in Morocco” vision, this initiative aims to strengthen digital sovereignty and position the Kingdom as a regional hub serving the African continent.

The Africa Impact Lectures is a high-level platform for dialogue, bringing together leading figures from across the African continent-from the political, diplomatic, and technological spheres-to share their visions for development and innovation.
