Morocco’s Flag Carrier Highlights Expansion, Connectivity at Brazil-Arab Seminar

Rabat: Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) showcased the expansion of its network and strengthening international connectivity during a seminar on tourism and business ties between Brazil and the Arab world.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the event, which brought together public and private stakeholders, financial institutions, and UN representatives in So Paulo, featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding to attract Arab investments into Brazil’s tourism sector, projected to reach $384 billion by 2028. Priority areas include tourism infrastructure, hospitality, and the development of new destinations.

In this context, RAM-present in Brazil since resuming the So Paulo-Casablanca route in December 2024 with four weekly flights operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner-reaffirmed its strategic role as a gateway linking Brazil to the Arab world, boosting tourism and trade flows, the airline details in a press release.

In 2025, the airline offered around 85,000 seats between Morocco and Brazil with three weekly flights. Since December, capacity has increased to four weekly frequencies, representing about 130,000 seats in 2026, a 30% rise, according to RAM’s Latin America regional director Othman Baba, quoted in the release.

RAM also spotlighted the expansion of its global connectivity via its Casablanca hub, with new routes reinforcing its positioning as a transcontinental carrier linking Brazil, Africa, Europe, and the Arab world.

Brazil’s tourism minister Gustavo Feliciano described ties with Arab countries as strategic for the internationalization of the country’s tourism sector, emphasizing efforts to build an integrated ecosystem based on air connectivity, infrastructure, promotion, and investment facilitation.

In turn, Morocco’s National Tourism Office representative Mohamed Amine Eljoudani highlighted strong growth in Brazilian arrivals, rising from around 34,000 in 2023 to nearly 60,000 in 2025, driven by a structured internationalization strategy.

From Mohammed V International Airport, RAM serves 100 destinations in 46 countries worldwide. The airline is pursuing an ambitious expansion plan (2023-2037), aiming to grow its fleet to 200 aircraft and reach 32 million passengers annually by 2037, up from 7.5 million in 2024.

Sustainability is also a key focus, with RAM operating its first flight using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2025.
